To prevent radicalism, intolerance, and religious disinformation in the digital era, young generations need to be equipped with an understanding of religious moderation from an early age. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of social media–based Islamic Religious Education (IRE) learning in enhancing students’ moderate attitudes at the Senior High School (SMA) level. The research method employed a descriptive qualitative approach through interviews, observations, and documentation involving 100 students and 5 IRE teachers. The results show that the use of social media in learning successfully fosters tolerance, openness, and respect for diversity. About 75% of students reported becoming more tolerant and open after participating in social media–based learning, while 80% showed improved anti-violence attitudes and greater appreciation for local culture. Platforms such as WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube proved effective in delivering values of religious moderation in an interactive, creative, and contextually relevant manner. However, the study also identified challenges related to digital literacy and content supervision to ensure that religious messages remain aligned with moderation principles. In conclusion, social media–based IRE learning can serve as an innovative strategy to strengthen religious moderation among high school students.
