The Effectiveness of Islamic Educational Videos in Instilling Tolerance

Instilling values of tolerance is an important aspect of Islamic education, especially in multicultural societies that are prone to social conflicts. This study aims to measure the effectiveness of Islamic educational videos in enhancing students’ tolerance attitudes. The method used is a quasi-experiment involving 30 male and female students from Raharja University as the research sample. The research instrument consisted of a tolerance attitude scale administered before and after the intervention (pre-test and post-test). The intervention was conducted through the screening of Islamic educational videos on the theme of interfaith tolerance over two days. The paired t-test results showed a significant increase in tolerance attitude scores (pre-test mean = 64.0; post-test = 78.4; p < 0.05), confirming that Islamic visual media has a positive effect on improving students’ understanding and empathy. These findings indicate that Islamic educational videos can be an effective and transformative strategy in digital-based character education, especially for the younger generation who are familiar with visual media and technology. One of the potential media used in character education is Islamic educational videos. These videos not only present information but also build empathy, emotions, and deep understanding through strong narratives and visuals.
