Focus and Scope
Startupreneur Business Digital (SABDA) is a peer-reviewed academic journal that focuses on digital entrepreneurship and digital business. The journal provides a scholarly platform for researchers, academics, practitioners, and policymakers to publish research addressing how digital technologies, digital platforms, and emerging technologies shape entrepreneurial activities, business models, markets, and sustainable business development.
SABDA particularly welcomes empirical, conceptual, and applied research that contributes to the understanding of entrepreneurship and business transformation in increasingly digital environments.
Peer Review Process
SABDA applies a structured double-blind peer review process to ensure the quality, originality, academic integrity, and relevance of every manuscript. The review process normally takes approximately 6–12 weeks, excluding delays caused by author revisions, reviewer availability, or other unforeseen circumstances.
Step 1 Initial Screening - Estimated time: 1 week
After submission, the Editorial Team conducts an initial screening to assess the manuscript's scope, originality, completeness, plagiarism or similarity, and basic methodological suitability. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's basic requirements may be returned to the authors for correction or rejected at this stage.
Step 2 Editorial Assessment - Estimated time: 1 week
Following the initial screening, the Editor evaluates whether the manuscript is suitable for external peer review. The assessment considers the manuscript's relevance to the journal's scope, academic contribution, research objectives, methodological appropriateness, and overall scholarly quality. Manuscripts that pass this stage are assigned to qualified reviewers.
Step 3 Double-Blind Peer Review - Estimated time: 2–4 weeks
Manuscripts that pass the editorial assessment are sent to at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise. SABDA applies a double-blind review system in which reviewers do not know the identity of the authors, and authors do not know the identity of the reviewers. Reviewers evaluate the manuscript's originality, theoretical foundation, methodology, results, discussion, contribution, and overall academic quality.
If reviewers are unavailable or additional expertise is required, the review period may be extended.
Step 4 Revision - Estimated time: 2–4 weeks for authors
Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the Editor may request Minor Revision or Major Revision. Authors are expected to revise the manuscript carefully and provide a clear response to each reviewer comment. The revision period may vary depending on the extent of the required changes.
When necessary, the revised manuscript may be returned to the reviewers for further evaluation. Additional review rounds may therefore extend the overall publication timeline.
Step 5 Final Editorial Decision - Estimated time: 1 week
After receiving the revised manuscript and, when applicable, the reviewers' further recommendations, the Editor makes the final editorial decision. The possible decisions are Accept, Revision, or Reject. The final decision is based on the overall academic quality of the manuscript, the adequacy of the revisions, and the reviewers' evaluations.
Step 6 Production and Editing - Estimated time: 1–2 weeks
Accepted manuscripts proceed to the production stage. The process includes copyediting, layout and typesetting, proofreading, final editorial checking, and publication. Authors may be asked to review the final proof and confirm any necessary corrections before the article is published online.
Estimated Timeline
| Stage | Estimated Time |
|---|---|
| Initial Screening | 1 week |
| Editorial Assessment | 1 week |
| Double-Blind Peer Review | 2–4 weeks |
| Author Revision | 2–4 weeks |
| Final Editorial Decision | 1 week |
| Production & Editing | 1–2 weeks |
Estimated editorial and publication process: approximately 8–13 weeks, depending on the number of review rounds, reviewer availability, and the time required by authors to complete revisions.
The stated timelines are estimates rather than guaranteed deadlines. SABDA may extend the review period when additional reviewers are required, reviewers need to be replaced, substantial revisions are necessary, or other circumstances affect the editorial process.

Duties of Authors
- Reporting Standards:
Authors of reports of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data should be represented accurately in the paper. A paper should contain sufficient detail and references to permit others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behaviour and are unacceptable.
- Data Access and Retention:
Authors are asked to provide the raw data in connection with a paper for editorial review, and should be prepared to provide public access to such data (consistent with the ALPSP-STM Statement on Data and Databases), if practicable, and should in any event be prepared to retain such data for a reasonable time after publication.
- Originality and Plagiarism:
The authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if they have used the work and/or words of others, this has been appropriately cited or quoted.
- Multiple, Redundant or Concurrent Publication:
An author should not generally publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.
- Acknowledgment of Sources:
Proper acknowledgement of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work.
- Authorship of the Paper:
Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Where there are others who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project, they should be acknowledged or listed as contributors. The corresponding author should ensure that all appropriate co-authors and no inappropriate co-authors are included on the paper and that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the paper and have agreed to its submission for publication.
- Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest:
All authors should disclose in their manuscript any financial or other substantive conflict of interest that might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed.
- Fundamental errors in published works:
When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.
Duties of Editors
- Fair Play and Editorial Independence:
Editors evaluate submitted manuscripts exclusively on the basis of their academic and intellectual merit, without regard to the author's race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnic origin, citizenship, religious belief, political philosophy, or institutional affiliation. Decisions to edit and publish are not determined by the policies of governments or any other agencies outside of the journal itself. The Editor-in-Chief has full authority over the entire editorial content of the journal and the timing of publication of that content.
-
Confidentiality:
Editors and editorial staff will not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate. - Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest:
Editors and editorial board members will not use unpublished information disclosed in a submitted manuscript for their own research purposes without the authors' explicit written consent. Editors will recuse themselves from considering manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships/connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.
- Publication Decisions:
The editors are responsible for deciding which of the manuscripts submitted to the journal will be published. They are guided by the journal's editorial board policies and constrained by legal requirements regarding libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. The editors may confer with other editors or reviewers in making this decision.
- Involvement and Cooperation in Investigations:
Editors will take responsive measures when ethical complaints have been presented concerning a submitted manuscript or published paper. This includes communicating with the author and giving due consideration to the complaint, but may also include communications with relevant institutions and research bodies. If the complaint is upheld, the journal will publish a correction, retraction, expression of concern, or other note, as may be relevant.
Duties of Reviewers:
- Contribution to Editorial Decisions:
Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and through the editorial communications with the author may also assist the author in improving the paper.
- Promptness:
Any selected referee who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript or knows that its prompt review will be impossible should notify the editor and excuse himself from the review process.
- Confidentiality:
Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.
- Standards of Objectivity:
Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Referees should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.
- Acknowledgement of Sources:
Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument had been previously reported should be accompanied by the relevant citation. A reviewer should also call to the editor's attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper of which they have personal knowledge.
- Disclosure and Conflict of Interest:
Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.
Duties of the Publisher (Pandawan Sejahtera Indonesia)
- Commitment to Ethical Oversight:
Pandawan Sejahtera Indonesia, as the publisher of SABDA, is committed to ensuring that best practices in scholarly publishing are strictly followed.
- Safeguarding the Academic Record:
Pandawan Sejahtera Indonesia takes responsibility for maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record. The publisher collaborates closely with the journal editors to address any ethical concerns, issue corrections or retractions when necessary, and ensures that any potential for advertising, reprint, or other commercial revenue has no impact or influence on editorial decisions.
- Editorial Independence:
Pandawan Sejahtera Indonesia is committed to the editorial independence of the SABDA journal team and guarantees that editors are free to make publication decisions based solely on academic merit.
Plagiarism Policy
SABDA Journal is committed to maintaining academic integrity and ensuring that all manuscripts are original and appropriately acknowledge the sources and contributions of other authors.
Similarity Screening
All submitted manuscripts are screened for textual similarity using Turnitin as part of the editorial process. The similarity score is not, by itself, considered definitive evidence of plagiarism. Editors assess Turnitin similarity reports contextually, taking into consideration legitimate quotations, references, commonly used terminology, methodological descriptions, and other acceptable forms of textual overlap.
Manuscripts exceeding the 20% similarity threshold may be returned to the authors for revision and clarification. Manuscripts containing substantial or inappropriate unattributed overlap may be rejected.
Suspected Plagiarism
If plagiarism or substantial unattributed overlap is suspected, the editors may investigate the matter and request an explanation from the authors. Depending on the severity of the case, the manuscript may be returned for revision, rejected, or handled in accordance with applicable publication-ethics procedures.
Self-Plagiarism
Authors must not reuse substantial portions of their previously published work without appropriate acknowledgment. Any reuse of previously published material must be properly cited and transparently disclosed to the editor.
Self-plagiarism identified during the editorial process may result in a request for revision or rejection, depending on the extent and nature of the overlap.
Duplicate Publication
Manuscripts submitted to SABDA Journal must not be simultaneously submitted to or published in another journal. Authors must disclose any closely related manuscripts or previous publications that contain overlapping content.
Duplicate or redundant publication may result in rejection of the manuscript or further editorial action if the issue is identified after publication.
Post-Publication Plagiarism
If plagiarism or significant unattributed overlap is identified after publication, SABDA Journal may investigate the matter and take appropriate action. Depending on the nature and severity of the case, actions may include publication of a correction, expression of concern, or retraction.
All plagiarism-related cases are handled in accordance with principles of academic integrity, fairness, transparency, and applicable publication-ethics standards.
Authorship & Contributor Policy
SABDA Journal recognizes authorship as a significant contribution to the conception, conduct, analysis, or reporting of scholarly research. Authorship should be based on substantial contributions to the work and accompanied by accountability for the published research.
Authorship Criteria
An individual should be listed as an author when they have made substantial contributions to the research and manuscript, participated in drafting or critically revising the manuscript, approved the final version, and agreed to be accountable for the integrity and accuracy of the work.
Individuals who do not meet the criteria for authorship should not be listed as authors. Their contributions may instead be recognized in the Acknowledgment section where appropriate.
Corresponding Author
The corresponding author is responsible for communication with the journal throughout the submission, peer-review, revision, and publication processes. The corresponding author should ensure that all listed authors have approved the submitted manuscript and its final version.
The corresponding author is also responsible for communicating relevant information among the authors and responding to editorial inquiries after publication when necessary.
Author Order
The order of authors should reflect the relative contributions of each author to the research and manuscript. Authors should agree on the author order before submission.
Any changes to the author list or author order after submission must be agreed upon by all authors and communicated to the editorial office with an appropriate justification. The journal may request written confirmation from all affected authors before approving such changes.
Changes in Authorship
Requests to add, remove, or reorder authors after submission should be submitted to the editorial office before publication. Such requests must include a clear explanation of the reason for the change and confirmation from all authors, including any author being added or removed.
Changes in authorship will be considered by the editors on a case-by-case basis and may require additional documentation.
Contributor Roles and CRediT Taxonomy
SABDA Journal encourages authors to disclose individual contributions using the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT). CRediT provides a standardized framework for describing the specific contributions made by each author.
Contributor roles may include:
- Conceptualization — Formulation or development of the research idea, aims, and objectives.

Individuals who contributed to the research but do not meet the criteria for authorship may be acknowledged with their permission. Examples may include administrative assistance, technical support, language editing, data collection assistance, or other forms of support that do not constitute substantial authorship contributions.
Authors should disclose relevant sources of funding, institutional support, or other contributions where applicable.
Accountability
All authors are collectively responsible for ensuring that the manuscript accurately represents the research and that any concerns regarding the integrity, accuracy, or ethical conduct of the work are appropriately addressed.
Authorship disputes should normally be resolved among the authors or through their affiliated institutions. SABDA Journal may suspend editorial processing while an authorship dispute is being investigated.
Corrections and Retractions
SABDA Journal is committed to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record. Published articles may be corrected or retracted when errors or serious concerns are identified.
Correction
A Correction is issued when an error is identified in a published article but does not compromise the overall scientific integrity, findings, or conclusions of the work. Such errors may involve factual information, author details, affiliations, figures, tables, or metadata. A Correction Notice will clearly identify the error and the corresponding correction and will be permanently linked to the original article
Retraction
A Retraction may be issued when an article contains serious issues that substantially affect its validity or research integrity, including:
- Fabricated data
- Falsified data
- Plagiarism
- Major methodological errors

The original article will remain accessible where appropriate but will be clearly marked as RETRACTED. The retraction status will remain visible to readers and, where applicable, may be communicated to relevant indexing services.
All correction and retraction decisions are made by the editors based on the nature and severity of the issue and the available evidence.
